A shell's hood is basically a pair of blinders that make whisking noises every time you turn your head. Unless the wind is really honking, I prefer a hat with a brim every day. This uber-lightweight beauty is unlined 3-ply goretex, weighs nothing, packs down to nothing, crushes and rebuilds just fine. Brim is 2 layers of fused interfacing faced by more goretex. Under-chin cord and weeny little cordlock complete the package.
