Tom Grundy's Peak 9,202 Trip Page

I have been slowly ticking off the peaks all around the horizon visible from Bishop. Not in any organized way, but slowly I have been working on it. So to get some exercise and tick another peak off I went up some un-named canyon with Julie and scrambled up the south ridge of an insignificant little peak. It was a little peak for here - even the little peaks are pretty big and it took most of the day. There were numerous false summits along the way. I tried to sort of stick to the rocks to avoid the scree treadmill. Conveniently enough there was a summit register in an old army blister gas cream container. I think most people come up the other side. We enjoyed the nice views, took pics, and rested a bit before descending. The scree was more fun on the descent - at least a few thousand feet of quick scree shuffling and skiing. I really need to find and fix up my scree gaiters to keep the stuff out of my shoes. Other nice things on this trip were a fair number of wildflowers including a lot of Chia down low that I haven't seen around here before. We started hiking around 5100 ft and went up to 9,202 feet (according to the summit register).
