Tights

I still think they look a little funny, but tights solved every single one of my problems with lower body base layers. They dont flap, catch, chafe, get wet and stick to your legs, etc. There is no friction, no extra material, and no riding down or up. The freedom of movement, to use an overused phrase, is unbeatable. I made two pairs: one thin pair (blue and green stripe) for biking in cool weather, and one thicker pair of Malden Mills Powerstretch for colder biking, climbing, and cold weather mountaineering. You're unlikely to catch me wearing long johns ever again. These tights are far superior in every way except avoiding attention.
